For many, the World Cup is a game of two halves: while some of us want nothing more than to embrace the festival of football, there are many who are less than game at the thought of the wall-to-wall coverage that awaits. With four city breaks and a beach holiday prize up for grabs, entrants can tell us why they want to shut the cup up on icelolly’s Facebook page or by using the #ShutTheCupUp hashtag on Twitter. Entries can also be made directly via a dedicated landing page.
From the funny and furious to the silly and serious, competition entrants can put forward any reason why they would #ShutTheCupUp, but a sense of fair play is a must – anything that falls foul of that will be shown the red card.
The competition runs throughout the tournament and will close at midnight on the day of the final, Sunday 15 July. A panel of five travel experts from the icelolly team will judge all entries, with five of the most quirky, compelling or humorous entries selected to win one of the five holidays for two including return flights, hotels and transfers. Winners will be contacted by either email, Twitter DM or Facebook Messenger (dependent on how they entered the competition) within five working days of the closing date if their submission has been selected.

Four lucky entrants will win a city break each to either Barcelona, Budapest, Prague, Rome or Amsterdam.
