icelolly.com take Charity Fundraising to New Heights this September in aid of company’s nominated charity
Sky Dive and London-to-Paris Bike Ride set to raise money for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund
icelolly.com is set to continue its fundraising efforts for its nominated charity this September with employees undertaking two epic sponsored challenges: a Sky Dive and a London to Paris bike ride.
The company is staging the fundraisers to raise money for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF), the Yorkshire-based charity that works alongside the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds Children’s Hospital to support babies, children and adults with congenital heart defects, providing care to the patients and their families as well as funding vital equipment, research projects and staff training.
icelolly’s efforts will begin on Saturday September 14 when a team of hardy employees including Sales Director Stuart Barrett will be joined by family and friends for a sponsored Sky Dive in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. The tandem skydiving specialist centre is based just north of the coastal resort, and two groups will be jumping on the day, the first at 9am and the second at 11am, weather permitting.
Just one week later, a team led by icelolly’s CEO Richard Singer and FD Neil Beardsmore will embark on what’s set to be an exhausting race against time to complete a 156-mile trip from London to Paris in less than 24 hours. The team will set off from London King’s Cross at 5pm on Friday September 20 unsupported and self-sufficient with all kit etc on their backs! With the exception of a night ferry crossing, they will have to ride day and night if they are to complete their mission and reach the Eiffel Tower by 5pm on Saturday…
With Sky Dive and Bike Ride participants paying for their own experiences, all money pledged will go directly to the CHSF. A minimum target of £1,500 has been set, with all donations, however big or small, gratefully received via two dedicated JustGiving pages*.
The initiatives are being organised by Sharon Addy, Compliance and Customer Experience Manager, icelolly.com, in partnership with the charity’s own fundraising committee.
“We have supported Children’s Heart Surgery Fund for many years, but the team are going the extra mile this September to raise money for this amazing charity,” explains Sharon. “The Fund offers invaluable assistance to children who are undergoing major surgery, and the support they provide to them and their families is hugely valuable and appreciated. We are genuinely proud to support such a worthy cause.”
Georgie Abbott, CHSF Corporate Partnerships Manager, added:
“We really enjoy working in partnership with the team at Icelolly, their staff are always full of enthusiasm for a new fundraising challenge and this September will be no different. We are incredibly proud of all the brave staff who will be flying high on Saturday 14th for their first skydive along the coast in East Yorkshire and we’d like to wish their cyclists the best of luck, we’ve every faith they will complete the journey from London to Paris in their 24 hour target. All the funds raised from both of these incredible challenges will support babies, children and adults born with a heart problem in Yorkshire.”
Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, which is wholly funded by donations, became icelolly.com’s nominated charity in 2015. The Bike Ride and Sky Dive are just two of the many fundraising initiatives the business has made in aid of the charity. Previous activities include Gung-Ho Leeds in April 2019 and the Three Peaks Challenge last October, as well as bake sales, cocktail afternoons, quizzes and team games throughout the year and the annual donation of a star prize for the charity’s Christmas raffle.
